The Sleep Monger

Who is Amanda Monger, and why does she write about sleep?

By Amanda Monger, who fixed her own broken sleep after thirteen years on tour and tracks every night. Published September 30, 2026. Not medical advice.

I spent thirteen years on tour running on no sleep, and tired was my personality. I was the person who was always sick, always exhausted, and proud of how hard I could push. Then I fixed my nights, not with a supplement, with a system: one wake time, caffeine by 2pm, the kitchen closed around 5, a warm shower and a cold dark room, the bed for sleep only, and my phone locked from 11pm to 8am. I track every night and I write about what the data and the research actually say. I am not a doctor, and I will always tell you when something needs one.

What I believe about sleep

  1. Sleep first. Then food. Then the gym. Get the order wrong and the other two stop working.
  2. Hours are the floor, consistency is the lever. The biggest real-world dataset agrees.
  3. Earn your sleep with the protocol before you buy anything. No supplement out-runs a nightcap, a 3pm coffee or a bedtime that moves three hours.
  4. The protocol gives the rules, your body casts the final vote. Track how you feel and keep what works.

What I make

What I am not

I am not a doctor or a sleep clinician. If you snore, gasp, wake with headaches, or have been unable to sleep for months, see one. If your waking feels like panic, say that out loud to someone qualified. Everything here is what worked for me and what the research supports, in plain English.
